- 0.0 Loading and using HoloPlay
- -------------------------------
-
- To Load HoloPlay, Make sure that HoloPlay is copied to the directory
- where your Amiga Modules are. The directory that I use is called TRAK2
- When you have copied the program to your module directory. This is
- the format in which the program will be run:
-
- Usage: HP <module.mod> (Extension needed!)
-
- When the program is run, It will ask you some questions about your
- sound system setup. Most people will probably select Soundblaster if you
- Have a Soundblaster, or SoundBlaster PRO, If you have the stereo Version
- of the card. Then it will ask you the I/O Address if you selected a sou
- ndblaster card. If in doubt, Select 220. Then it will ask you your Inter-
- rupt setting, If in doubt, select IRQ 7. Then it will ask this for all
- cards. The SAMPLE RATES!, The following chart will help you decide the
- sampling rates.
-
- 4000 hz: For REEEEEALY slow CPUs
- 8000 hz: Also for REEEEALY slow CPUs
- 12000-14000 hz: 286 CPUs
- 16000-20000 hz: 386 CPUs (Some really fast 286 CPUs)
- 24000-32000 hz: 386 CPUs (Sample rates above this not supported by SBlaster)
- 36000-65999 hz: 486 CPUs (and 386DXs with Cache)
-
- Sampling rates above 20000hz are NOT supported by original Soundblaster
- Sampling rates above 44000hz are NOT Supported by Soundblaster PRO
-
- This should help, If in doubt, Trial and error will determine the
- sample rate. If the music is slow and the pitch is real flaky, and
- the dB meters are dragging, try a slower sample rate.
-
- Then the mod will load, the dB meters will start flickering
- and sit back and Enjoy the excellence of Digitally sampled
- music!
-
- The Module WILL loop, so, to stop, press ANY key on the Keyboard.
-
-
- 0.1 What are Amiga Modules?
- -----------------------
- An Amiga module is a module that has digitized samples in-
- cluded in the file. It is NOT FM Modulated music. So the "Computerish"
- sound is non-existant. You get high fidelity music that sound real,
- BECAUSE THE INSTRUMENTS ARE REAL!
- Amiga modules are usually created on an Amiga Computer, Such
- as the A500, using a program such as NoiseTracker/Soundtracker(uggh)
- or PROTRACKER!(YAY!). The latter Protracker is the best module type
- that this player will play. Protracker has many more F/X, compared to
- the carbon copy Soundtracker/noisetracker programs, Such as Tremolo
- Enhanced volume slides, etc.
- There are various composers for IBM systems with a soundcard
- such as a Soundblaster (or a Pro). Such as the Protracker Compatible
- Whacker Tracker, (Which is what the skeleton playing routines R from)
- or other trackers such as Tetra Compositor, and BPT, (Although Whacker
- Tracker iz da best!)
-
